So here is a story that might seem unbelievable but is true. In August of 2022 i was approached about this beautiful and historic building. A good friend and realtor Jo Ann said she had just listed this building (actually two buildings) and myself and my brother might be interested in looking at. I was reluctant as i was not looking to purchase real estate but agreed to take a look. After doing a walk through she gave me a price and i was a little set back as i did not have any cash on hand at the time. They were in need of serious repair but the bones of these structures were very solid. I called my brother, a lifelong contractor and asked him to take a look. He was reluctant as was I but agreed to come see these buildings.
After walking through with the realtor we told her we would get back with her. we walked across the street and began discussing the possibilities of these buildings.
Side notes both myself and my brother are men of faith and though we belong to two religions we have great faith in the power of God and felt if things were to happen then he would make a way.
Now back to the story, after discussing it with him he said buy them!! What i thought, i did not have any available cash to even put down a deposit and I had just retired and was on a fixed income.
well sometimes you need to walk in faith and just see what happens so i walked back across the street and made an offer on these buildings not knowing just how i would or i should say how we would pay for them. After a couple of offers and counter offers a price was agreed upon and a contract was written.
Now in 2009 my mother had past and i being the youngest of 7 children was the only one that had any interest in keeping her property so i mustard up the needed funds and purchased it. It was a small property 2,25 acres with a trailer on it and i had kept it up for all the years i was working at the hospital. After i retired i continued the upkeep but was not using it on a regular basis. My brother suggested i sell it and see what it would bring. I agreed and listed it. To my shock and surprise i got an offer of 90% of the cost of these historic buildings. It sold in a week, and we closed on both properties on the same day. So here we are with two newly acquired buildings in need of much repair. So now what? Well, my brother being a contractor acquired several new contracts and soon had the funds to help begin turning these historic buildings around and A & A Wallace, LLC came into existence.
Now here we are with our first Airbnb and soon to be a new storefront.
Never doubt the power of God and walking in faith!!
